FUFA DRUM 2023: Lango edge Busoga to win first trophy

Busoga Province 1-2 Lango Province – MTN Omondi Stadium.

Lango Province won the prestigious 4th FUFA DRUM edition after edging Busoga Province on a 2-1 score at MTN Omondi Stadium.

Unlike the previous editions, this final was played on a one leg basis.

Maroons FC forward Darious Ojok opened the score for Lango in the 8th minute heading in a well delivered cross from Allan Okello from a corner kick.

Emmanuel Obua doubled the lead for Lango in the 32nd minute after being set well by Allan Ogwang from a throw in.

Busoga Province came back into the game in second half and attached constantly for a break through but Lango defended well.

Lawrence Tezikya pulled one back for Busoga Province in the 78th but wasn’t enough.

Another golden opportunity for Busoga Province came in the 90th minute with Isaac Wagoina header getting inches wider.

Lango have a day to celebrate after losing out in finals of last edition to West Nile.

The other winners of other editions are Buganda, Acholi and West Nile in 2018, 2019 and 2022 respectively.
