Uganda Boxing Champions League Belts unveiled

Uganda Boxing Champions League – season two is set to climax on Boxing Day, Tuesday 26th December 2023 at the UMA show grounds.

With an inciting Lineup of fights placed to put up a show, bouts will be accompanied by lots of entertainment and most importantly belts to be won by the Winners.

The belts which will be the most prestigious awards in local boxing come the D-day were unveiled by the President of the Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF), Moses Muhangi in a press conference held at the Cooper Chimney restaurant hall in Lugogo,

Muhangi there after came out to say that if he was a boxer in the final, winning the belt would be something he would look forward to because it’s worth it.

“It’s going to be the most prestigious belt in local boxing” he added, Going on to reveal that each belt costs about USD 1,000. The belts will be given out to 13 weight categories for males and 12 weight categories for females.

“On the change of venue, we thought of going to different places that can accommodate the number of people that usually attend boxing and more, went to freedom City but in the end choose UMA show grounds because of the ample parking space.”

When asked about his futher plan beyond the Champions League, he went on to add that;

“The champions here have a chance to compete in the IBA champions night, place where we have had only one boxer in Shadir Musa as Uganda participate.”

“However as boxers we have something to prove which is discipline since we have another chance to be on billboards all over the country with our patners of Sting.”

Ending with a fact that, the boxers to that will always represent Uganda everywhere will have to come from the Uganda Boxing Champions League.

Seth Mulali, Director of Top Boy Promotions added that the introduction of the belts is a sign that the league growth;

“We believe that the belts will motivate the boxers, both in the finals and not.” He said

“Winning is not just about money, visible and physical prizes like belts are important as well,”

Concluding that; “We want to ensure that boxers in the league take pride in it by adding new initiatives like the belts.”

The competition finale promises to be create an unforgettable night of boxing with the best boxers in the land who will come together and battle for the ultimate prizes.

Fight will also be live with the Uganda Boxing Champions League broadcast patners, NBS sport TV starting from 7pm till late.
