The Uganda Schools Football Association (USFA) have officially approved a UGX 296 Million budget for the 2024/2024 year during their general meeting held at GNS hotel, Old Kampala.
In attendance was Justus Mugisha, the Patron of USFA and FUFA Vice President, Kaliabala Chris FUFA EXCOM also graced the event a Chief Guest.
The patron Justus Mugisha urged the schools to be more strict in following the guidelines that govern schools football as they look forward to increase on the competitions in schools with the introduction of age category football.
“I call upon all games teachers at schools to work hand in hand with USFA and finish up the vice of age cheating in football, we have tried to managed this with the players registration system but it is still among some schools.” Said Justus Mugisha.
“We are looking forward at introducing age category football from the primary schools where they will play in U10, U12 and U14, this will also cross in the secondary schools as where we shall have three categories in U15, U17 and U20 so that we have a better tracking on the progress of these players.” He added.
Ayub Khalifan Kiyingi, the Chairman USFA asserted that they will use the Money to Co-fund school Football’ Competitions for the 2023/24 Season such as Odilo, Girls Football and CAF Schools Tournaments and run Capacity Building Training in Football.
“We have held our general meeting successfully for USFA which only handles football in schools and not any other sport like USSSA, we have passed a budget of UGX 296M. This will cover costs for our schools which are taking part in competitions like Odilo and the CAF Schools tournaments.” Said Ayub Khalifa Kiyingi the Chairman USFA.
“We have also looked at ways forward on how we can make USFA one of the most successful association under FUFA, we have alot of games we run but we are yet to be felt as a federation on ground despite being so active in schools, we are looking forward at organising capacity building programs which will be a pillar for our targets.” He added.
The meeting was climaxed with a luncheon served to the delegates and executive committee in attendance.
