CECAFA U18 W : Uganda edge Burundi to eye close on glory

Uganda Women’s U-18 team defeated Burundi 7-0 in match day 3 in the ongoing CECAFA Women’s U-18 Championship in Dar es salaam, Tanzania.

The result meant that Uganda move to the top of the table with 9 points level with Tanzania but enjoys a better goal difference.

Uganda started a better side that saw Agnes Nabukenya head in an opener in the 5th minute thanks to Sharifa Nakimera’s corner.

Burundi had a chance to equalise in the 31st minute but Sharon Kaidu wasted the chance, Uganda immediately purnished them through Kamiyat Naigaga after Burundi’s center back Emelyene lrankunda failed to clear a long ball in the danger zone.

At the start of second half, Kamiyat Naigaga scored his second goal and as well fourth for Uganda.

Ayub Khalifa’s coached side didn’t stop demanding as Phiona Nabulime powered in the 5th before second half substitutes Nassazi and Najjuma scored the 6th and 7th respectively.

Burundi could pull one back in the 73rd minute when they were given a penalty kick but striker Rukia Bizimana failed to convert.

The development means Uganda will only need to avoid defeat against hosts Tanzania to emerge winners.
