UAE win by 15 runs
United Arab Emirates (UAE) who are the highest ranked team in the 2023 Victoria Series managed to pick up a vital win against Kenya in the opening matc played at Lugogo Cricket Oval.
UAE win by 15 runs as they managed to defend their score of 84 runs from the 20 overs, Kenya win the toss and elected to field first but their chase couldn’t pay off as they failed capitalise on their batting.
Chaya Mughal the captain was so outstanding for UAE as she registered 24 runs to be voted the player of the match, walking away with a token of 100,000 Uganda Shillings and a couple of goodies.
Team Kenya captain Sharon Juma was left so disappointed in their batting which she feels let them down as they lost their first game against UAE.
“Our strategy was to field first and it really paid off but our batters let us down as we failed to capitalise on the batting and hence we ended up on the losing side.”
UAE will return in action as they face off with Tanzania in their second game in the morning hours whereas Kenya will be up against Rwanda tomorrow in the afternoon.
