CAF Champions League: Can Isabirye’s Vipers survive Raja Casablanca?

Vipers SC will be up for revenge as they face Raja Casablanca in CAF Champions League match at St. Mary’s stadium in Kitende another game to be played under floodlights.

Under new head coach Alex Isabirye Musongola, the venoms look to be more different than they were in the first leg meeting as they lost by a whelming 5-0 score in Morocco but the big question to be answered remains whether they can survive the Moroccans test.

Alex Isabirye has alot of confidence in his side as he believes alot has changed eversince his arrival which saw the venoms bag their first goal in more than seven games after failing to score under Brazilian-Spanish coach Beto Bianchi.

He remains confident of a positive result as he is out to compete and not just to participate as it has been to Vipers in their first four group games where they looked to be more of participants which has seen them sit rock bottom of the group C.

“I am a competitor, I don’t participate, and if you’re a competitor you have to be at your absolute best no matter the situation and the opponent you’re facing,” said Alex Isabirye.

“In the few days I have been here, I have tried to work on improving their confidence, and I know that they are a good group,” he added.

“They played the first game, and they know how tough it is to play against Raja, so it is now about us to show that we can be at those levels as well, and I believe we can get a result.”

Isabirye has called upon the fans to be behind his team with full support as they try and fight to see if they can secure a possible comeback and qualify out of the group stages.

“To the fans, we need your support. Without you it’s not the same, so please come and back us so that we can win together. The players will bring their best and they will fight for you.”

Vipers sit bottom of group C with just one point from the four games played and winning both of their remaining games can guarantee them qualification out of the group but only if results from Horoya AC and Simba SC can go into their favour.

They face a strong side Raja Casablanca who already qualified out the group stages unbeaten with a 100% winning record at the top which may see a slightly changed side to play and finish the group games.
