Stanbic Uganda Cup: Express FC ease past Paidha Black Angeles to book a slot in the last eight

The joint top Uganda Cup holders (10) Express FC saw an easy path to the quarterfinals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup after a 4-0 win against regional league side Paidha Black Angeles.

Fisal Ssekyanzi put the red eagles ahead before Boban Zirintusa bagged a brace as Anwar Ntege sealed the scorings in a match played at Wankulukuku Stadium.

A much changed Express FC side saw Allan Kayiwa captain the team for the first time this season as they dominated the game right away from the start.

Within nine minutes off the clock, Faisal Ssekyanzi tested Paidha Black Angeles’ resilience as he netted to put Express FC in a deserved lead.

Express FC could have doubled their lead in the 15th minute of the game but Paidha Black Angeles goalkeeper made a vital save to deny Enock Ssebagala as Zirintusa missed from the rebound.

Derrick Ngobi saw his headed ball go inches wide after meeting a perfectly taken corner by Isma Kawawulo before Boban Zirintusa opened his Express FC goal account in the 35th minute as he doubled their lead.

Six minutes from his first goal, Zirintusa headed in a rebound off the post to complete his first half brace putting Express FC in a comfortable 3-0 lead before halftime.

With a 3-0 halftime Express lead, it was all but nothing to play for as Paidha Black Angeles struggled and they showed no sign of a come back hence settling for the damage control system.

Determined Express FC showed no signs of stopping until Striker Anwar Ntege put the ball in the back of the net to seal a comfortable 4-0 victory as they progressed to the quarterfinals round.

Express FC now join Vipers SC and Bright Stars who sealed their slots in the last eight a day before.
