Uganda Cup: Isabirye in the Sharks test ahead of new life at Vipers

Newly recruited head coach Alex Isabirye ‘Musongola’ will see his charges at the Kitende based side start against stubborn Wakiso Giants in the Stanbic Uganda Cup match at Wakisha resource center.

Isabirye who replaced sacked Beto Bianchi is tasked to help Vipers progress to the later stages of the Stanbic Uganda Cup and he faces a daunting task against Wakiso Giants a side Vipers is yet to win a game this season after playing out to two draws in their last two meetings.

Ale Isabirye is geared up to help Vipers pick up maximum points in Wakisha despite the club being in a situation where they have failed to score a single goal in their last six games they have played across all competitions.

“I am happy to be here at the one of the biggest clubs in Uganda, I know the challenges are not the same but my coming here is to change one of the few things which can make this club successful.”

“To be a winner you have to compete in everything that comes across you, I am ready for the Wakiso Giants task as the club is looking to win something this season. It is not an easy task and my task is to make sure we get three points in every game we play as we start with our derby in Wakiso.”

“The players are good and talented but I need to change their mentality on the way they think and the character they impose on the field of play as we are eager to fight for maximum points in the game agay Wakiso Giants.” Said Alex Isabirye.

Wakiso Giants remain unmoved despite facing a side with a new head coach and their target is set to progressing to the next round in the Uganda Cup as their coach John Luyinda Ayala narrates.

“We are excited to be playing in a game of this magnitude, We play a very good side with a new and proven coach but we are motivated to do well against them in front of our fans

“For us, the onus is to produce a good performance and hopefully a decent result to take us to the next round.” said John Luyinda Ayala

Wakiso Giants played out to a 1-1 draw against Vipers in their first meeting in the league at Kabaka Kyabagu Stadium but they will have to bank on the home advantage playing at home where they have had their best performances in the league if they are to pick a positive result against Vipers.

Despite struggling to find the back of the net under sacked Brazilian-Spanish head coach Beto Bianchi, Vipers are still a strong side who seek to rejuvenate their fading season under Alex Isabirye.

A positive result will be of huge benefit to the venoms as they head into their CAF Champions League encounter against Raja Casablanca despite squandering their chances of making it out of the group stages after a back to back loss in the double header against Tanzania Giants Simba.
