AFCON U20: Nigeria defeats Tunisia to win Bronze

Nigeria defeated rivals Tunisia 4-0 in third placed playoff at Cairo International Stadium to win bronze at the ongoing AFCON U20 tournament in Egypt.

Ibrahim Mohammad opened the scoring for Nigeria in the 9th minute as his lonely goal decided the half time score.

Earlier in the second half, Ahmed Abdullahi netted in the 46th minute before Jude Sunday scored a brace in the 48th and 90th minute.

Tunisia didn’t bounce back in the second half as Nigeria proved to be a strong side possessing the ball in their own half.

Nigeria won the bronze medal for the third time in their history but the first one eversince 2015.

They are the record holders of this trophy as they have won it 7 times.

Despite losing the bronze medal to Nigeria, Tunisia will still hold a chance as one of the four countries to represent Africa in the upcoming FIFA World Cup U20, alongside Nigeria, Senegal and Gambia.

Finals are to be decided today on 11th March as Senegal will be taking on Gambia at Suez Canal Authority Stadium.
