Fortbet Real Star monthly awards, Football back on the menu as February Awards set

The Fortbet real star monthly awards returns with Football back on menu after an active packed month of February which had more footballing activities not like January where football was dropped.

Football returning has now increased the number of athletes to 18 as they vie for the best performers in the month with a total of six sports disciplines.

In football, Hippos player Rodgers Mugisha and Patrick Katumba a youngster at Royal Giants will battle for February’s best against KCCA FC second choice goalkeeper Derrick Ochan.

Patrick Katumba a budding young goalkeeper helped his side Royal Giants high school clinch the just concluded CECAFA U15 Champions in Tanzania and named goalkeeper of the tournament.

Rodgers Mugisha a brilliant performance at the CHAN U20 tournament as they helped the Hippos top group B with five points, he was included in the team of the group stages.

Derrick Ochan has been phenomenal playing for KCCA FC eversince the return of the league second round as he helped his side win all the three games he has featured in, keeping two clean sheets in those games against Wakiso Giants and in Uganda Cup against Kataka FC.

In Badminton, Fadila Shamika will battle out with Brian Kasirya and Husinah Kobugabe, Shamika who won the Award for January yet again appears in the list after putting up a performance which saw her win two medals at the Uganda Junior Challenge.

For Basketball three time Forte bet Real star award winner Brenda Ekone will be up against fellow Gazelles small forward Jannon Otto Jones and point guard Maria Najjuma who all put up great the 2023 Afro basketball Women Zone V qualifiers.

Jacob Kiplimo stands favourite to win the award for the best athlete in February having won gold at the 2023 World Cross-Country title in Australia but he will see off competition from Joshua Cheptegei who won a bronze medal in the same race whereas Doreen Chesanga who won the source of the Nile Marathon.

The other categories are as follows.

Motorsport

Yasin Nasser and Ali Katumba won the Mbarara Rally top the NRC table as they will battle for the Award with Ronald Ssebuguzi and Duncan Mubiru who finished second and third consecutively.

In Rugby, Aaron Ofoyrwoth of Heathens will be up against Kobs’ Puis Ogenda and fellow Kob – Karim Arinaitwe

The winners will walk home with accolades courtesy of Jude Colour solutions, Canan Soda and Fortbet as they are organised by Real Stars.
