Express seek revenge against high flying SC Villa in the Kampala Derby

The old famous Kampala Derby may have lost the zeal to pull up a mammoth crowd but the ‘mukwank gwabangi’ club Express FC are determined to seek revenge against high flying SC Villa.

The Kampala Derby comes at a time when the James Odoch coached side are facing a poor run in performance this season but they are eager to raise their game as they seek to bounce back on track and collect maximum points in their game against SC Villa at Wankulukuku Stadium in the Startimes Uganda Premier league.

Head coach James Odoch has urged his side to fight for maximum points but it won’t be an easy one for Express FC to take as they are facing a poor run and having last won a game in the league last year in November against Busoga United.

They are yet to register a win in their last nine league games, losing five and only managing four draws in a season where injuries have been a huge blow to the Red Eagles camp but Odoch remains confident about picking a positive result at home.

“We lost the first Derby this season and we have worked on all our mistakes in the previous games to see that we overturn the results. We have a few injuries but that won’t deter us, the rest of the squad can handle the game well.” Said James Odoch

“It has not been a good run to us but with the fan’s support this time round, we will get the positive results.” added James Odoch

Express FC lost their last league game against URA FC by a 1-0 score and they have only managed to find the back of the net on four occasions in their last nine winless games.

SC Villa are currently one of the best performing sides in the Uganda Premier league and they are eager to complete a League double against their rivals having won the first leg by a 2-0 score at Wankulukuku Stadium where they are hosting their games this season.

The joogos have managed to stage a massive performance which has seen them remain unbeaten in their last six league games, winning four and only URA FC and Gaddafi managing to hold them in the two draws.

The six games unbeaten run has seen SC Villa rise up the ranks as they currently occupy the 4th position on the log with 28 points from the 16 games they have played.

For Express FC, they look more of a threat to the drop zone as they sit in the 11th position on 18 points and just six above 14th placed Blacks Power. A win against SC Villa will be a push factor for the red eagles to rescue their fading season.
