SC Villa surviving on FUFA’s laps, back in Uganda Cup contention

Uganda Premier league side will have to the FUFA competitions Disciplinary committee as they see their fate in the ongoing Stanbic Uganda Cup relieved.

The joogos were eliminated on the round of 32 by the 2022 defending champions BUL FC in a 1-0 score courtesy of a goal from Ronald Otti at FUFA technical centre in Njeru.

However SC Villa felt cheated when what could have been the equalising goal from Charles Bbale who tapped in from close range a rebound off a Joseph Kafumbe shot which hit post was mistakenly ruled out by assistant referee Khalid Muyaga for offside.

The nsambya based side cried out foul play after the game had ended and filed in a petition to the competitions Disciplinary committee which was backed up by the referees report from the referees disciplinary panel which had earlier banned Muyaga from officiating games.

Earlier after the game, The Referee’s Displinary panel sent reports to FUFA admitting the Mistake of fellow mate in denying Villa the goal.

” Muyaga’s decision to cancel the goal was extraordinary wrong and exceeded reasonable Human error ” FUFA decision report States.

Further more the reports reveals how the denied goal could change the results.

“It’s possible that if the goal was not Canceled in the above Circumstances, The results would have been different “.

” This being a knockout tournament , the Cancellation of the goal eliminated the club from the tournament, As a result Such Extraordinary factors necessitate a decision to order for the two clubs to replay the match”.

” The CDP Orders that the Uganda Cup Match between between BUL FC and SC villa be replayed, However each party shall cater for its own costs for preparation of the match” FUFA Concluded.

The real date will be Communicated soon , However BUL FC will still stand on the home advantage as the game will be at Njeru.

It’s the First time in the recent decate, FUFA to decide on the replay of already finished game.

Infact it’s very rare in Modern football.
