Micho impressed with Cranes performance in Sudan draw

Uganda Cranes played out to a 2-2 draw in their first friendly game on Tuesday against Sudan in which they led twice , However Sudan Managed to come back.

The match was held at Jamal stadium in Tunisia at 5:00pm EAT as Uganda Cranes look to prepare more for the African Nations Championship CHAN in Algeria about to kick off in 8 days from now.

Abdul Karim Watambala netted Uganda Cranes first goal in the first minutes however, URA left back Derrick Ndahiro foul in the box area before the break resulted into a penalty which gave Muhammad Abdulrahman a chance to level the scores as he sent Nafian Alionzi in the opposite direction.

Minutes later, Ndahiro restored himself as he crossed a nice ball to Ibrahim Orit who restored the Cranes lead as he scored the second goal for Uganda.

Sudan scored an equaliser through Saddig Kuwa in the second half of the game as they managed to pick a 2-2 draw against Uganda. 

Uganda Cranes will embark on their CHAN preparations with a second friendly game  on Thursday as they will be featuring Cameroon.

However Micho was impressed with Uganda Cranes performance despite conceding twice through defensive errors.

“We have been able to identify our strengths and grey areas. We created several chances but we could not put them away. It is one area we need to address ahead of the two next friendlies,” said Coach Micho.

Ibrahim Orit has belief that the game was important in giving them shape and knowing their capabilities.

“We fought hard and displayed a very good show. l believe as players, their has been several lessons picked up and hoping that we work on aspects where the team fell short today,” said Ibrahim Orit.

Uganda Cranes is in group B with teams like Senegal, Ivory Coast and neighbours DR Congo and they will open up their CHAN campaign against DR Congo on 14th January.
