Commonwealth Games: Owen Kibira into quarterfinals.

Uganda boxer Owen Kibira booked a quarter final spot as he defeated Hossan Ali from Bangladesh in the welterweight category on Tuesday 2nd August at the commonwealth games.

Kibira put up a great fight to win 5-0 unanimous decision in all the three rounds. He inches a step closer to the medal bracket.

He will face Zambia’s Stephen Zimba in quarterfinals on Thursday for a place in the semi finals. Zimba earlier beat Eugene McKeever of Northern Ireland.

Ugandan female boxer Teddy Nakimuli will be action making history as the first lady to represent Uganda at the commonwealth games.

Nakimuli in the quarterfinal match against Sarah Haghighat Joo of Sierra Leone will be hoping for a win which will see her into the semis for a medal at the commonwealth games.

Team captain Joshua Tukamuhebwa will also be in action against Wyatt Sanford from Canada in the light welterweight category.

A step closer to the medal bracket, Tukamuhebwa will bank on his first two wins in the tournament for a strong fight which will ensure a medal if he reaches the semi finals.
