Uganda Martyrs defeat UCU Lady Cardinals in Lubaga

Uganda Martyrs HS WFC defeated UCU Lady Cardinals by a 4-1 score in the FUFA women super league match played in Lubaga.

Goals from Latifah Nakasi, Kevin Nakachwa, Catherine Nagadya and Sumaya Nalumu were enough to gift the home side maximum points.

Asiat Naluggwa scored the consolation for the Mukono based side UCU Lady Cardinals as they succumbed to their second successive loss in the league.

Uganda Martyrs were a better side on the day as they dominated the game right from the start. Midfielder Kevin Nakachwa opened the scoring for the host in the 32nd minute with a superb shot from a short taken free kick as she was set up by Catherine Nagadya.

With just a minute left to the half time break, Latifah Nakasi headed in a cross from Nagadya as she was left unmarked in the box to double their lead as the game took a break with Martyrs Inna comfortable 2-0 lead.

UCU tried to settle back in the game as they tried to create some chances in second half and their efforts were awarded as they were awarded a penalty in the 53rd minute and Asiat Naluggwa took it to the opposite side of goalkeeper Sharon Kaidu to pull a goal back.

Skipper Catherine Nagadya spared time to register her name on the score sheet as she scored from the penalty in the 78th minute to restore a two goals lead for Martyrs.

In the 86th minute, ‘Fresh Kid’ Sumaya Nalumu scored a beauty from the free kick  to complete a 4-1 score for the home side Uganda Martyrs.

Uganda Martyrs now currently move to the second position on the log with 13 points from six games as they close in on table leaders Kampala Queens who lead with 15 points from five games.
