BREAKING : Uganda Kobs withdraw from U-23 Africa Cup of Nations

The Uganda U-23 men football team (the Uganda Kobs) have withdrawn from the Ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.

The announcement was made on Saturday Morning by FUFA President ,Moses Magogo during the 98th Annual General Assembly in Gulu stating the lack of funds to facilitate the team as he says,
“the Executive Committee took a painful decision to withdraw from the Ongoing Qualifiers because of financial constraints ”.

Uganda Kobs who were exempted from the first round of Qualifiers were to play Guinea in the second round due 21-30 October before setting a last qualifying stage with Nigeria being a likely opponent.

The Uganda U-23 Team has been in tense preparations for the aforementioned Fixture with playing a Tri-Nations Tournament in Libya and camping about a fortnight ago.

The dismay holds football developmental hopes since the team consists of boys who recently raised the countrys’ flag at the U-20 AFCON in Mauritania early last year.

The 2023 U-23 AFCON Tournament will act as Qualifiers for the 2024 Olympic games in France for the best three placed teams.
