Masaza Cup: Bunyaga spurs Buddu past Bulemeezi as Busiro, Ssingo share spoils

Buddu defeated Bulemeezi 1-0 in the Masaza Cup Semifinals first leg game played at Masaka recreation ground.

Bruno Bunyaga scored the only important goal to guide Buddu past Bulemeezi taking the first leg advantage. 

In the other Semifinal, it was a goals galore as Ssingo shared spoils with Busiro in a 3-3 draw at the Mityana Saza ground.

Joseph Ssewali bagged a brace on top of a goal from Amuli Mukasa for the hosts Ssingo. Akram Muzanyi also scored a brace as Alex Mandela completed the scoring to level the scores.

Ssingo were eager for a positive result as the home crowd powered them to a better start pressing high and as early as the 12th minute, Joseph Ssewali scored to put them ahead.

The visitors of Busiro responded positively as they capitalized on the defensive mistakes by Ssingo to grab the equaliser from Akram Muzanyi in the 22nd minute.

With just seven minutes after the equaliser, Muzanyi completed his brace as he scored the second goal in the 30th minute for Busiro to command a comeback lead.

It was not yet over as the first stanza was raining goals and in the 36th minute, Amuli Mukasa cancelled out Busiro’s lead with a brilliant goal which saw the game ending 2-2 at the halftime break.

In the second half, it was Ssingo who took the commanding rights as they scored in the 64th minute when Joseph Ssewali completed his brace for a 3-2 lead.

Alex Mandela also spared time to register his name on the score sheet as he guided Busiro to a 3-3 draw with a goal in the 76th minute.

The return legs for both games will be played in the 16th October and the winner on aggregated scores will progress to the final.
