Paul Putt reveals mistakes on why Cranes lost to South Africa, Optimistic his side can bounce back against Congo Brazzaville.

Uganda Cranes head Coach Paul Putt had a say after Cranes losing out their first 2025 AFCON Qualifying game to South Africa.

“We knew it was going to be a tough game. But the way we played this match, I didn’t expect as everything we did in training was good but today there was nothing good,” Put told reporters.

“In the first half, we didn’t give away too much chances but we also didn’t create as there was no movement, we were losing a lot of balls,” he added.

“In the second half, we asked players to be more aggressive, open the flanks but if you give such a goal away against a quality of South Africa, it’s tough. I warned them that we are playing against a side that has been at Afcon and we have to be on top but unfortunately, the performance was disappointing.”

Despite, Paul Putt remains optimistic his side Cranes can bounce back against Congo Brazzaville and bring back the lost smile to Ugandans.

“We have three days and then we face Congo, so I hope that we can give our people a good result because I am really ashamed of this performance today”.

Uganda Cranes will be facing Congo Brazzaville on 19th of November and will be targeting maximum points in their aim to regain back their lost top position.
