NEC FC 0-0 Police FC – MTN Omondi Stadium.
Desperate NEC FC failed to return to winning ways after playing out a goalless draw with Police FC at their home MTN Omondi Stadium.
Despite them (NEC) being the slightly better side, they couldn’t maximise all the points.
In the 15th minute, NEC FC could had broken the dead lock but Police FC custodian Edward Kasibante was well positioned to stop Rwothomio’s shoot.
In the 23rd minute, NEC FC got the first goal after utilizing their free kick advantage but referee cancelled it after calling for an handball.
Police FC had their first clear attempt come in the 35th minute as Isaac Ogwang had a shoot which NEC FC’s custodian Hannington Ssebalunywa dealt on well.
NEC FC returned to second half a more determined side with an immediate substitution of Rashid Okocha replacing Baiga Patrick.
In the 48th minute, Rwothomio had a beautiful shot that failed to hit in rather being blocked for a corner.
NEC continued to push as in the 52nd minute, they were awarded with a free kick after Jarieko was fouled though Mucureezi failed to score.
In the 78th minute, it was midifielder Ssebagala who had an attempt for NEC after being set well by Kavuma but didn’t get in.
The last chance to NEC came in the 88th minute when Ssebagala had a long shot that hit the bar but the surrounding NEC players couldn’t hit the rebounder calling for Edward Kasibante’s rescue.
The results saw NEC FC move to second place on 16 points while Police FC remained 6th on 11 points.
Action will resume tomorrow on 6th as UPDF FC will be hosting Mbarara City FC at Bomboo Military Grounds while Wakiso Giants will be welcoming Lugazi FC in Wakiso.
