Express FC 1-0 SC Villa – Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.
Soltilo Bright Stars 1-0 Kitara FC – Kavumba Recreational Grounds.
Express FC picked up all the points after edging their historical rival SC Villa on a 1-0 score in a heated Kampala Derby at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.
Despite SC Villa scoring as many goals as 5 in their previous game against UPDF FC, they weren’t able to net in after failing to capitalize their fewer chances in a closely contested game.
SC Villa were earlier shocked by the injury of their goalkeeper Norman Agifindru after suffering a knee injury in the 19th minute and was replaced by Jeans Braddy Wokorach.
But before in the 10th minute, Reagan Mpande had had an attempt though wasn’t fruitful.
In the 20th minute, Charles Lwanga also took charge for an opener but Express FC defender Mbazira was their for the blocking.
In the 35th minute, it was Express FC with Emmanuel Wasswa getting in charge for an opener but his shot was blocked by Arnold Odong.
Hakimi Kiwanuka could gift Villa an opener just to one minute to half time but his efforts passed the mouths of the goal.
Right from the start of second half in the 49th minute, Basangwa gifter Express an opener but his efforts were ruled for an offside.
In the 74th minute, Ssenyonjo had a goalkeeper to beat opportunity for Express but failed to capitalize on.
At last Joseph Zziwa got Express FC an opener with a beautiful Stunner with SC Villa custodian Jeans Braddy failing to deal it with.
It was a good result for Express who have been dominated in the recent 24 meetings with SC Villa.
It was rather good to return to winning ways for Express FC side after drawing goalless with Wakiso Giants and only winning once in their previous 5 games.
With SC Villa, their head coach Morley Byekwaso is at pressure after failing to deliver for the defending champions.
They have only registered one win in their 5 previous games.
The results saw Express FC move to 4th place on 12 points while Villa 7th on 11 points.
