Paul Put names provisional squad ahead of AFCON qualifiers double header

Uganda Cranes Head Coach Paul Put has summoned a squad of 28 players for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers against South Africa and Congo slated for next month.

The Cranes head coach confirmed the squad in a press briefing held on Tuesday at FUFA Complex.

The team is in preparation for the upcoming AFCON qualifier games against Bafana Bafana away and a home game against Congo. They are set to travel to South Africa on 31st September with the game slated to take place on 6th October with the home game to be played on 9th October at Mandela National Stadium.

Paul Put confirmed that defenders Kenneth Ssemakula and Halid Lwaliwa will miss the trip to South Africa due to visa issues but the duo will feature in the home game against Congo. Players Allan Kyambadde, Moses Opondo, Uche Mubiru and Isaac Ssewankambo have been ruled out due to injuries.

According to the FUFA head of communications Ahmed Hussein, tickets for the home game against Congo will go on sale on Wednesday 28th August.

Uganda Cranes is in Group K alongside South Africa, Congo and South Sudan.
