Entebbe City Rollers Club in partnership with the Uganda Skating Federation have officially launched the inaugural edition of the Entebbe Speed Skating Marathon in Uganda.
The first of a kind Marathon in Speed Skating has been launched at Jacmare hotel in Nakiwogo, Entebbe and is set to happen on Saturday 10th August. The marathon is due to happen annually in Entebbe City.
“We are delighted to announce the inaugural edition of Speed Skating Marathon in Uganda, this is an East African event with more than 150 skaters coming from across all East African countries.” Said Tugume Isma Elisha the club’s spokesperson.
He went ahead to ensure a safety and secure marathon after clearance from the municipal council and the Uganda Police.
“We have managed to get in touch with the Municipal council and the police in the area where our marathon is going to be held for the safety of the event and our skaters. We urge each and everyone to and support these athletes as our main aim is to develop talent from grassroots. ” he added.
The marathon will cover the juniors category and the senior category in both boys and girls with the juniors set to cover a distance of 18kms in a 1km circuit for 18 laps.
The seniors will sprint a 42km race in a 5km circuit for a total of 8 laps.
There will be lots of prizes to won.
