A day filled with great excitement, fun and joyous events as athletes showcased their sprinting skills in the 100m and 200m races at the 6th outing of the Corporate Sports Network event held at Prisons grounds in Luzira.
From a total of 35 companies lining up their best sprinters on the day, DFCU Bank, Centenary Bank and Case Hospital powered to the gentleman’s tables as they dominated the races with Hotel Africana joining in after emerging victorious in the Netball competition.
Case Hospital won a total of three medals from both the 200m and 100m in the men and women categories. Francis Drani won gold in the 100 meters, with his counterpart Irene Rukundo bagging bronze in the 100 meters for women.
Dfcu’s Brian Nuwamanya 200m (gold) with Centenary Bank’s Henry Kayongo following in with a second place finish to take home silver as Veronica Nansubuga (silver) 100m women to put DFCU in a blistering mode.
Eunice Apolot (Uganda Prisons) 100-meter women (gold) swept the field, winning by a sizeable margin.
In the Netball finals, Hotel Africana defeated Dumen Orange in a close contest to emerge winners of the inaugural CSN Netball tournament. Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCCA) fought a hard battle to win bronze after defeating Manifest TV.
In Football, Tropical Bank is dominating the log with 60 points and followed by Uganda Revenue Authority (58), Cipla Quality Chemicals Limited (53), DTB Bank (552) and Uganda Breweries Limited (51 points).
The next outing will take place on 29th September at Luzira Prisons Playground.
