A hard fight ends in a defeat, Kitara says bye to continental football.

Friday result

Al Hilal Benghazi 3-2 Kitara FC (Agg: 6-4).

Uganda’s representatives in CAF CONFEDERATION’S CUP Kitara FC have seen their journey cut short by Libya’s Al Hilal Benghazi after being defeated 3-2 in their return fixture at Martyrs of Benina.

The first leg of the tie had ended 3-2 in favour of Al Hilal Benghazi and so Kitara FC needed any positive win to send the game further but couldn’t as Al Hilal Benghazi appeared to superior and strong.

Right from the start, Kitara FC were on the receiving end and a credit has to go to their goalkeeper Farouk Yawe who stood high for some good fine saves.

Mohammad Salim scored the opener for Al Hilal Benghazi in the 40th minute from a rebounder after Kitara’s defence failing to clear away the ball that was saved by Yawe.

Second half substitute Titus Sematimba who replaced David Ndihabwe brought back life for the Royals when he neeted an equalizer in the 57th minute.

However a life line couldn’t last for more than two minutes as Hameya Tanjy scored the second for Al Hilal as immediately.

Tanjy scored the third in the 75th minute for Al Hilal which was his second on his day.

Denis Omedi neeted the second for Kitara FC in the 80th minute but wasn’t enough on the day.

Al Hilal Benghazi therefore qualified through to the second preliminary round on a 6-4 aggregate score and they will have to face Egypt’s Al Masry in the next preliminary round.

It was the maiden continental football for Kitara FC and playing both legs at away in Libya made things more worse, lessons have been learnt and we will expect a different thing when they reach there the second time.

Focus and support returns to SC Villa who will be visiting Ethiopia’s CBE in Ethiopia in CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE.

SC Villa lost their first leg on a 2-1 score at Nambole Uganda, and they will have to work tooth and nail if they are too qualify through to the next round.
