UBCL: Frank Mawanda defeats bombers international Kyobe on debut night

The Kololo boxing club breed of Frank Mawanda walked home with victory after a 4-1 split win against bombers international Jonah Kyobe on his debut in the champions league.

The Kalerwe-Bwaise battle was also settled by Frank Mawanda from kololo boxing club residing in kalerwe with victory against the 2022 Africa’s bronze medalist Jonah Kyobe from Lukanga boxing club in Bwaise in the feather weight category.

“I am so happy for this victory on my maiden fight in the champions league. I thank my fans who have pushed me this far with support, this is the begining and more is yet to come.” said a jubilating Frank Mawanda.

Despite making his official debut fight in the champions league, Mawanda gained experience in the five round fights as he was part of the special contest fights last season.

In other bouts, KCCA boxing club’s Paul Raskara dominated the ring walk for a second season in a row and came out victorious in the second round of his fight against Edward Kimera in the light welter weight as the Referee stopped contest.

Week 5 also witnessed the disqualification of a boxer as Arafat Sembatya (Mutajjazi BC) who was dominating the light middle weight contest against John Ssemugaire (katabi BC) lost his fight after being disqualified in round 5 due to unsportsmanlike behavior in the ring.
