NEC FC continued their impressive season 2023-2024 when they reached quarter finals of Stanbic Uganda Cup after edging rivals Busoga United on a 1-0 score at Kakindu Stadium.
Right Wing back Joseph Dhata thunder bolt was enough to send his side to the next stage.
With Busoga United, a loss was worth as they needed to bow out to then concentrate on surviving relegation in the Uganda Premier league.
They are 14th in position with 16 points from 19 games.
Meanwhile Joseph Dhata was scoring his fourth goal in the tournament making it nine overall (5 in Uganda Premier league).
NEC FC joins teams like BUL FC, Kitara FC, KCCA FC, Police FC and regional side Pajule lions at the quarter final stage.
Action will resume today on Wednesday as defending champion Vipers SC will be taking on Iganga Young at St Mary’s Kitende.
