SUPL: Kitara, Maroons ends first round on a high gear

Kitara FC 3-1 Soltilo Bright Stars – Masindi Stadium.

Maroons FC 4-2 UPDF FC – Prison Grounds.

Kitara FC and Maroons FC finished the first round of Startimes UPL on a high gear after both teams winning their respective games.

Kitara FC edged Soltilo Bright Stars on a 3-1 score at Masindi Stadium.

Kitara FC came into the game woundy after losing their previous one 2-1 against Busoga United and so had to bring out maximum energy while at home.

Soltilo Bright Stars broke the deadlock first in the 2nd minute through Nelson Senkatuka.

Paul Mucureezi levelled matters for Kitara in the 36th minute before doubling the lead for the Bunyoro Royals in the 50th minute.

Jude Ssemugabi then sealed the score for Kitara FC.

The results left Kitara FC in the 2nd place with 29 points from 15 games while Soltilo Bright Stars remained 10th with 18 points from 15 games.

Elsewhere at Luzira, Maroons FC staged a strong come back to overcome UPDF FC on a 4-2 score.

UPDF FC got the lead early through Faridi Rashid in the ninth minute.

Maroons through Edward Kabona equalised in the 24th minute before Fred Amaku led his side to a lead in the added minutes of first half.

Maroons scored the third through Davis Ndihabwe in the 59th minute.

Faridi Rashid appeared again on the score sheet for UPDF in the 64th minute.

Abel Eterude scored the fourth goal for Maroons FC in the 85th minute.

The results pushed Maroons to the 3rd place with 28 points, UPDF remained 15th with 9 points.
