AFCON: Cameroon, Senegal through to round of 16, Algeria shown exit

Group C

Guinea 0-2 Senegal.

The Gambia 2-3 Cameroon.

Group D

Angola 2-0 Burkina Faso.

Mauritania 1-0 Algeria.

Cameroon and Senegal managed to reach round of 16 after winning their games in the closing match day of group C.

Senegal qualified through unbeaten with all the three games finishing with clean sheets.

Abdoulaye Seck and Illiman Ndiaye appeared on the score sheet for Senegal.

In other game, Cameroon needed a come back to qualify through.

The first 45 minutes played showed no signs of both teams scoring as many goals as they scored.

Karl Toko Ekambi opened the score for Cameroon in the 56th minute.

FC Metz featuring striker Jallow equalised for The Gambia in the 72nd minute before Gambia could grab the winner in the 85th minute through Ebrima.

Two minutes later, James Gomez scored into his own net to earn Cameroon a leveler.

Christopher Wooh headed in a brilliant ball to earn his side Cameroon maximum points.

Senegal qualified through as the top team with 9 points, Cameroon came second with 4 point level with Guinea who finished with 4 points too, The Gambia finished with no point.

Elsewhere in Group D, Algeria were eliminated after being defeated by Mauritania on a1-0 score.

Angola who topped the group with 7 points edged Burkina Faso on a 2-0 score.

In this group, Burkina Faso finished second with 4 points and Mauritania third with 3 points, Algeria fourth with 2 points.
