After losing out the Kwibuka T20 championship to Rwanda earlier in June, it was business as usual as the Victoria Pearls had no mercy for neighbors Rwanda in a win to start their quest for a slot in the ICC women world cup.

Victoria Pearls saw off Rwanda in their first win of the Africa T20 World Cup Qualifiers, sparing 6 wickets in an 89 runs for the fall of 4 wickets just after the 16th over in a game played at Entebbe Cricket Oval.

Uganda won the toss and elected to bowl first, limiting the Rwanda attack to just 87 runs in the fall of 5 wickets after the 20th over.

Janet Mbabazi put up a man of match performance too steer Uganda to victory with her 32 runs off the 37 balld she faced, hitting the ground boundary on four occasions with a catch in the three wickets she managed to bowl out.

The pairing of Mbabazi and Ritah Musamali was superb, easing the job for the Victoria Pearls as Musamali contributed to a 31 runs off 29 balls faced with three ground boundaries.

The Victoria Pearls will return to action on Tuesday against group B favorites Namibia before facing Nigeria in their last group game on thursday.

Namibia won their game against Nigeria by 9 runs after a 122/2 in their innings as Nigeria was only limited to a 113/7 after the 20th over.
