All Africa Schools Badminton Championship: Mbogo, Kibuli start title defence on a high

The 2023 All Africa Schools Badminton Championship held in Harrare, Zimbabwe got underway on Saturday 16th December and it is set to climax on the 20th with three schools representing Uganda.

Uganda is represented by Kibuli Secondary School in the boys category, Mbogo High School and Lubaga Girls are in the girls category.

The 2022 defending champions in the boys category of Kibuli Secondary School started their title defence on a high as they collected two massive victories to sit top of group A on day one.

Kibuli managed to ease past Bernard Mezeki College of Zimbabwe by a 5-0 win and later repeating the same scoreline against Prince Edward School of Zimbabwe.

Mbogo High School started on a high note in their title defence  as they sealed a semifinal slot on day one after finishing top in group A.

They defeated both of their opponents in the group with an outstanding performance of a 5-0 score in the two games against College Sainte Therese from Ivory Coast and Queen Elizabeth School of Zimbabwe.

Lubaga Girls also managed top group B in the girls category after two massive wins against Zimbabwe’s Mufakose High School in a 5-0 score and a 4-1 victory against Durban High School from South Africa.

Kyomukama Olivia Betty has been outstanding for the Lubaga Girls team as they look forward to try win the girls category from favorites Mbogo High.
