University Football League: UCU edge KIU to maintain perfect start

Monday results

UCU 2-0 KIU.

Uganda Christian University based in Mukono handled Kampala International University a 2-0 defeat at their home to register their third consecutive win.

UCU started the better side which saw Ofoyirwoth Isaac open the score in the 5th minute.

14 minutes later, Allan Opio doubled the lead for UCU.

Heavy rains were witnessed though the referee couldn’t stop the game.

” We had meticulously prepared for today’s game. Lacking familarity with KIU’s strategies, we opted for an aggressive start, netting two rapid goals” UCU head coach Ahumuza said after the game.

KIU head coach Geoffrey Akabwai blamed the loss on rain that made the pitch look poor.

” An early blunder cost us and we sought to rebound, the rain became an obstacle. We even alerted the referee about the ball’s poor movement on the waterlogged field”.

The development means UCU remained on top with 9 points while KIU remained on three points.

KIU will play UCU in their next fixture in Kasanga.
