Masaza Cup 2023: Gomba edge Buddu as Mawokota, Bulemeezi share spoils.

Sunday Semifinals results

Gomba 2-1 Buddu.

Mawokota 1-1 Bulemeezi.

Masaza Cup returned to action on Sunday evening with Semifinals first leg taking actio.

Record champions Gomba defeated Buddu on a 2-1 score at the Kabulasoka PTC playground.

In a huge tight game where both teams had to prove out with a lot of fanbase, Allan Oyirwoth grabbed the opener for Gomba in the 43rd minute through a penalty kick.

Later on in the second half, Buddu grabbed an equaliser through captain Ayman Twaha in the 50th minute.

With thirteen minutes to full time, Gomba utilized their chance of a free kick which Kenneth Kimera comfortably took in.

Buddu were the better side in the closing minutes but couldn’t break through Gomba’s solid defence that had support of fans.

In other game played, Mawokota and Bulemeezi played out a 1-1 draw at Buwama Playgrounds.

Joseph Kayondo scored an opener for Mawokota in the fourth minute before his goal was cancelled by Johnson Ssenyonga in the 42md minute.

The return leg of Semifinals will on 8th October when Buddu will be welcoming Gomba at Masaka Recreation grounds.

On 9th October, Bulemeezi will too be welcoming Mawokota at Kasana Playground in Luweero.
