Centenary Bank re-commit their support to Masaza Cup

After injecting in UGX 600M and n the just concluded Masaza Cup tournament, the chief sponsors of Centenary Bank have re-committed their commitment to promote and grow the tournament with support.

Bulemeezi were crowned Champions of the 2023 Masaza Cup tournament after defeating Gomba by a 1-0 score courtesy of a second half strike from Johnson Ssenyonga.

In the due course, Bulemeezi who won their third Masaza Cup trophy under Coach Ibrahim Kirya walked home with a hefty cash prize of UGX 12Million as the champions.

This was handed to them by the General Manager off commercial services at Centenary Bank Micheal JJingo who handed the team captain a dummy Cheque at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.

Jjingo while addressing the media he hinted on their commitment to continue supporting the Masaza Cup tournament which is a stepping stone in nurturing talent in the youth 

“This tournament serves as a beacon of hope for aspiring athletes, showcasing their abilities and fostering a spirit of friendship, togetherness and healthy competition.” said Micheal Jjingo.

“Through this partnership, we have witnessed the transformation of young talents into shining stars who go on to play in even bigger tournaments,” He added.

The commitment is a keen eye to the long outstanding relationship Centenary Bank has had with Buganda Kingdom as they are partners in various projects which target to improve the lives of people.

“Centenary Bank has had a longstanding relationship with the Buganda Kingdom, participating and partnering in different projects that are aimed at improving the lives of the people in the communities.”

The 2023 Masaza Cup tournament has been run under  the theme ‘Men in the Fight against HIV/AIDS’  to Save the Girl Child, which targets calling attention to socio-economic challenges impacting the community.

The Katikiro of Buganda Owek Charles Peter Mayiga went ahead to thank Centenary Bank for the commitment and continued support in the Masaza Cup tournament.

“I would like to thank Centenary Bank for making this possible with the numerous support all these years.” 

“This tournament boosts talent among other development opportunities in the region and beyond and I encourage us all to continue being part of the competitions among other initiatives spearheaded by the Kingdom.” said Charles Peter Mayiga.

Earlier this month, the bank contributed Ugx 600 million towards the tournament which will be divided into Ugx 200 million for the next three years.

The 2023 Masaza Cup tournament also saw the runners up of Gomba awarded with a UGX 9million Shillings with Mawokota who finished third being handed UGX 7M as well as Buddu with UGX 5M for finishing fourth.
