CAF Women Olympics Qualifiers: We are ready to fight for maximum points – Najjemba

The Uganda national women’s team (Crested Cranes) return to action as they face Cameroon in the second round of the Women Olympic football tournament qualifiers at FUFA Technical Center in Njeru.

Captain Fauzia Najjemba who joined the team camp a few days back has urged her fellow teammates to stage a remarkable fight and collect maximum points as they play the indomitable lioness in the first leg of the second qualifying round.

“We are ready for the game, the coaches have done their job to put us in shape and ready for the game now it’s us the players who have to deliver on the pitch though it’s going to be a challenging encounter as we have a big task ahead but we are ready to take it on.” Said team Captain Fauzia Najjemba 

Najjemba went ahead to call upon the fans to rally behind the team in huge numbers so that they can achieve their target of collecting a positive result from the game.

“It’s not going to be an easy game but together with the fans behind us, we are expect to win so I call upon all our fans to come in huge numbers and support us as we take on the indomitable lioness.” 

“The mood in the camp is high as every player is motivated to see that we can put up a fighting spirits against Cameroon and this will push us high for the win.” She added.

Crested Cranes eliminated Rwanda on a 4-3 aggregated scored in the first round of the Paris 2024 Olympic qualifiers with coach Ayub Khalifa as the interim head coach.

Now under the new leadership of head Coach Charles Ayieko, they have to beat the second hurdle as they face a tougher opponent of Cameroon with the team missing alot of key players due to injuries.

The likes of Hasifa Nassuna, Shakira Nyinagahirwa, Ruth Aturo and Sandra Nabweteme were not summoned to the current team in camp with most of them sidelined due to a injuries.

Coach Ayieko and his new technical staff are eager to start their first job with a positive result as they face Cameroon in Njeru.

“We are well prepared for the game as we have no injury concerns in the camp and the foreign based players came in earlier which helped us have a well organized preparations on the days we have been in camp, so we are ready for the game.” Said Coach Ayieko

“We have made enough preparations both on and off the field so that the players are in good shape to deliver a positive result as we play Cameroon at home.” He added.
