Badminton: Uganda International Future Series serve off

After a successful climax of the second edition of Kampala International Future Series hosted at Lugogo indoor Arena where the hosts Uganda managed to claim a total of 13 medals, focus has now shifted to the Uganda International Future Series.

The Series served off on Thursday 5th October with action packed matches in the qualifying round which saw a huge number of Ugandans progress to the round of 32.

The tournament will also serve as part of the 2024 Paris Olympic games qualifiers as most of the athlete’s are in such of good qualifying points. 

This has attracted more quality players from 26 Nations that include; Uganda the hosts, United Arab Emirates, Malta, Poland, South Africa, to mention a few.

180 players are to take part in the event, 100 ate men while 80 are Women.

On either genders 24 players are directly ranked in the main draw while by the end of today, eight players shall join the 24 from qualifying rounds to reach the round of 32.

This has also seen Ugandan player Fadila Shamika return to action having missed out to the just concluded Kampala International Future Series 

“I am prepared to play the Uganda International unfortunately I missed out on the Kampala International something that was disturbing on my side.” said Fadila Shamika

“I believe if I had played the tournament I would have got more experience to play better in this tournament however I used this time to train inorder to eliminate any excuses” she added.

Shamika has set her targets high as she is eager to end the tournament with a podium finish.

“In the tournament, I hope reach the semifinals or finals of the Uganda International because I feel have trained and worked a lot for this so that I can play my game and also bring back a medal”

“In addition to that am fit for this tournament, these are the same players I met in West African countries and I will be meeting some of the again and hope to put up a show” she concluded
