Startimes UPL: Vipers edge Arua Hill to ascend on top of table


Vipers SC 2-0 Arua hills SC – St Mary’s Kitende.

Vipers SC maintained their 100% record in the Uganda Premier League after picking up a 2-0 win against Arua Hill in the lights of St. Mary’s stadium.

On an evening graced by a couple of events which saw star boy Allan Okello being unveiled to the home fans after a deadline day transfer to join the venoms, the crowd were also treated to entertaining moments from celebrated musicians like Alien Skin.

A dominant Vipers SC sealed of the game in the early minutes of the game as both goals were scored in the first stanza of the game. Defender Livingstone Mulondo and Nigerian talisman Abubakar Lawal appearing on the score sheet.

Mulondo opened the score for the home side in the 14th minute when he headed in thanks to a well delivery cross from right back Ashraf Mandela.

Nigerian Foward Abubakar Lawal doubled Vipers’ lead in the 32nd minute after a well one two play with striker Yunus Sentamu.

The results mean Vipers have won all their games this season that takes them to first place with six points.

Meanwhile it is a bad start for Arua hills who have lost both their opening games including 1-0 against Busoga United as well 2-0 against Vipers SC.

Action in Uganda Premier League resumes today with URA FC taking on Gaddafi FC at Mehta Grounds, NEC will be taking on Busoga United at MTN Omondi Stadium while Kitara FC will be taking on UPDF FC at Masindi Sports Stadium.
