Brian Balinya defeated Muhammad Kayaya in the finals of the 2023 Ludo Individual Championships held at Green Kard Gardens in Nansana to break the jinx for Super League players.
The assistant captain of Ntinda United Balinya became the first player to win the Individual Championships on the 21st edition breaking the jinx which has been majorly dominated by League one players.
He was so calm as he came from a 3-0 button score to draw the scores level as both players remained with a button as Kayaya needed one dice score to seal it with Balinya being the lucky on the day as he finished with a two dice on the dice to take the crown home.
“I thank God for the victory I have achieved today, the opponents have been tougher but I have managed to keep the faith and calmness as told by my coach at Ntinda United. This has helped me so much in the final today as you saw I came from down to claim victory.” Said Brian Balinya
“I am so happy that I am the first Super League players to win the individual Championships, this has restored hope and motivation to all the super league clubs.” He added.
Balinya was crowned with a brand new motorcycle as Kayaya the runners up walked away with a hefty cash prize.
In the last six category, a 17 years old Evelyn Nanteza from Kilowoza Ludo Club impressed the crowds as she saw her way from the round one which was played in Lugogo to eliminate two league one players and seven Super League players to see her way to the last six only to lose to the runners up Muhammad Kayaya.
