Vipers Summon Alex Isabirye To Disciplinary Committee

Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC has summoned head coach Alex Isabirye to the club disciplinary committee.

Isabirye is said to have thrown in a towel, as first reported by this Website, and has not stepped at Kitende this Week.

In a summoning statement seen by The-SportsNation, Vipers says that Isabirye is still contracted.

“You have consistently and without authority from your employer, absconded from your work and duties as the Head Coach since 05/07/2023 to date,” reads a letter to Isabirye.

“That despite a formal request from your immediate supervisor dated 07/07/2023, you have still
failed to report for work which actions have negatively impacted the Team’s preparations and trainings.

“So be hereby informed that in line with the applicable labour laws, you are invited for a disciplinary hearing on Thursday 14th July 2023 at St. Mary’s Stadium – Kitende Executive Lounge, 10:00AM.”

The gaffer has been advised to “keep time and appear in person.”

Its strong to note that Isabirye, who was voted the UPL Coach of the 2022/23 Season, recently tweeted about surviving a nasty accident.

Analysis

Vipers president Dr Lawrence Mulindwa has never been a fan of a local coach.

Despite Isabirye winning a double – League and Uganda Cup – Mulindwa was never convinced.

And with rivals KCCA and SC Villa unveiling foreign-based coaches, Mulindwa was never going to let the challenge pass.

The decision to sack Isabirye was going to come with compensation, and paint a poor image for the Club especially with what he has achieved.

Congolese Lukusa Kayembe Raoul was brought in as Isabirye’s Assistant coach, but the former BUL coach was never consulted.

And all this was to frustrate Isabirye so that he can throw in a towel.

And as it stands, the plot has worked, Isabirye and Vipers will soon confirm parting ways.
