Shafiq Magogo: Youngster Joins Ssenyondo At Kitara

Uganda Hippos striker Shafiq Magogo has finally completed the expected move to Kitara from UPDF.

Kitara has given the youngster a two-year contract. The deal has been signed and sealed, as confirmed by The Royals on their social media pages.

The 2022/23 FUFA Big league Champions, upon qualification to the top division entrusted former UPDF coach Brian Ssenyondo with the responsibility of assembling a strong team that will compete in the forth coming Uganda Premier League (UPL) season. Not so surprisingly, the 19-year-old forward is one of the players the coach proposed.

At Kitara, Magogo will now reunite with Ssenyondo with whom they have had a very good working relationship since their UPDF days. The coach influenced the strikers move to Hoima, one hundred percent!

However, the coach, in an interview earlier on this week refuted claims of favoritism leveled against him. He maintained that he only works with certain players because of the interest he has in their qualities, and not any other strings attached.

About Magogo, the coach particularly said, “He is a prolific striker that I believe will be very lethal in the near future.”

“It would so illogical for me to categorize this player (Magogo) as a good forward and then go on to leave him behind when I have a realistic chance to work with him.”

Magogo now becomes the Kitara’s seventh signing after Solomon Okwalinga, Jude Ssemugabi, Frank ‘Zaga Tumwesigye, Crispus Kusiima, Ibrahim Magandaazi and Kipper Luwalo all joining The Royals this transfer period.
