Rezlife Saints Face KIU Titans Hurdle

•Rezlife Saints Vs KIU Titans, 8:30pm

Rezlife Saints have an uphill task to climb when they take on KIU Titans in the National Basketball League at YMCA court in Wandegeya.

The side, under Resurrection Life Church in Lubowa, is yet to stump their authority in top flight since earning promotion.

They sit bottom of the 12-team pile with three wins – against Ndejje Angels, UPDF Tomahawks and JKL Dolphins – in 12 games.

And it’s work cut out for coach Daniel Najja Juuko, who just returned from Kigali Rwanda where he was part of the coaching staff for the Junior Silverbacks who qualified for FIBA U16 Africa Championship.

He will be without one of the team’s key players Benjamin Kawuma who travelled with the Under-23 Silverbacks team for the U23 3×3 Nations League in Kinsansha, DR Congo.

Kawuma is averaging 9 points for the Saints this season in his debut campaign in the National Basketball League.

The Club has added Gipalu Leonardo who was at KCCA Panthers last season, Claude Aligawesa Lubega who was in the States and Kenyan Ivan Ombiru in the concluded Transfer window, and the trio featured in their only second round game – a 60-72 loss against UCU Canons.

To clear space for the new signings, Tambwe Tresor and Alieu Keith were released while youngster Michael Ssekibenga was sent to their feeder side (Berkeley Reloaded) to get more playing time.

They will welcome back Michael ‘Mikey’ Otieno after the influential guard missed the Canons game due to family issues.

Against KIU Titans, Rezlife face a side that beat them 54-74 in the first round, in March this year.

The Titans have proved to be the best team in the division outside the indomitable City Oilers.

They lost to Oilers and UCU Canons in their only two losses this season in 14 games so far.

They showed grit and character to survive Our Saviour scare on Sunday at YMCA.
