Ndejje Complete Stunning Double Over UCU

Sunday, July 2 (YMCA)
•Kampala University 49-51 Nkumba Lady Marines
•Nabisunsa 52-56 Angels
•UCU Canons 82-89 Ndejje Angels
•Our Saviour 77-78 KIU Titans

Ndejje University Angels produced yet another shocking result against UCU Canons after beating the Mukono-based side 89-82 in a thrilling Overtime at YMCA

The result means that Ndejje has beaten UCU twice this season – They beat the side 64-55 in March this year.

UCU, playing without head coach Nicholas Natuhereza, looked like they were destined for an emphatic win when they led by as many as 10 points after the first quarter.

But Ndejje came out big in the second quarter to take a four-point cushion at halftime.

It remained a close battle between the sides and UCU regained their lead, a five-point advantage, heading into the fourth quarter.

The fourth was hotly contested but UCU needed a late Joel Kayiira lay up to tie the game 76-76 and necessitate Overtime.

In Overtime, the Canons ran out of steam as Ndejje thrived on their momentum to win 25-17 and the overall game 89-82.

Joseph Kumbai (18pts, 19 rebs) and Kok Makur (20pts, 10 rebs) scored in double figures while Trevor Mutyaba had 20pts for John Omondi’s Ndejje’s team littered with some Buddo students.

Peter Sifuma weighed in with a double double of 17 points and 22 rebounds, Jimmy Otim had 18 points while Jerry Kayanga had 16 points, but the Canons couldn’t edge the University derby.

It’s a disappointing result for UCU who have now lost six games this season, with this one against Ndejje coming after the 73-55 loss against KIU Titans.
