Nam Blazers broke no sweat to get past Kampala Rockets 81-39 in the National Basketball League at YMCA court in Wandegeya.

The Blazers rested three of their key players – Jimmy Williams, Peter Cheng and Michael Makiadi.

But the rest of the squad did a tremendous job, rather the Rockets barely threatened especially in the first quarter where they managed just four points to Namuwongo’s 22.

The game was all but done when the Blazers went 43-11 up at halftime, and despite an improved second half from the Rockets who combined for 19, they eventually lost by 42 points.

Richard Ongom (14), Chuol Nyuot (13) and Nasser Guddi (12) scored in double figures for the Blazers who were cheered on throughout the contest by a sizeable crowd.

Emmanuel Okumu and John Dombo, both formerly at City Oilers, scored 13 and 10 points respectively.

The loss means that Kampala Rockets have lost twice to the Blazers, after they were beaten 103 -70 in the first round.

It’s win number 13 in 17 games for Namuwongo who moves top of the table, but have played more games than City Oilers who are still unbeaten.

Kampala Rockets remain on 4-9, and are strong candidates with relegation. Rezlife Saints remain bottom with just three wins
