The Masaza Cup group stages were officially launched as the Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II graced the opening game as Mawokota defeated holders Busiro by a 3-1 score at Wankulukuku Stadium.
In the Bulange group, Bugerere will be traveling to Mityana to face Ssingo at Mityana Ssaza ground in their first group stage game.
Bugerere head coach Noah Mugerwa who has got vast experience in the Masaza Cup tournaments is eager to guide his side to a positive start as they face Ssingo.
“I thank the Buganda Kingdom for organising such a prestigious tournament and I also want to thank Bugerere team for handing me the job to guide the team to glory.” Said Noah Mugerwa
“My target is to see that we can have a positive start as we travel away from home, in our group all teams are playing their first games so if we start better we stand in a strong side to qualify out of the group stages.” He added.
Noah Mugerwa who is going to work with Mwalisi Richard, Kawalya Robert and Bahati Asuma have assembled a strong side which they are eager to guide as they hunt for silverware in the 2023 Masaza Cup tournament.
Bugerere look set after playing out to a 7-0 score in their last practice match against Big League side Jinja North which happened in Wednesday 28th June as they unveiled their squad to their fans at their home ground.
Ssingo have had couple of competitive friendly games under coach Simon Dunga where they have faced the likes of Busiro, Gomba and Mawokota as they are shaping their team which they want to help them win the fourth Masaza Cup tournament.
