Sunday, July 2
•Buddu 2-0 Kooki
•Kyadondo 0-1 Buwekula
•Kyaggwe 4-1 Buluuli
•Ssingo 2-0 Bugerere
•Bulemeezi 1-1 Butambala

Buddu started this year’s Masaza Cup edition with a 2-0 win over Kooki in a game held at Masaka Recreation grounds on Sunday.

Second half goals from Pius Ssebulime and Dickson Kigoye were enough as Buddu bagged maximum points.

It is a perfect start for head coach Simon Peter Mugerwa, who was handling his first game at Buddu.

On Sunday, after a goalless first half, Buddu returned back the better side and it paid off with two quick goals.

Ssebulime broke the deadlock in the 47th minute before Kigoye added the second three minutes later.

And given his outstanding performance on the day, Ssebulime, who is also a KCCA FC junior team player, was named man of the match.

On the other end, it is a poor start for Kooki, who earlier on were attacked and a couple of their players reportedly sustained injuries weeks later.

Buddu, who are two time winners, are seeking for a third title in this prestigious Masaza Cup competition, having lost this year’s final to Busiro.

And following Sunday’s victory, they will be hoping for better performances under an experienced coach in Mugerwa.
