Dickson Igga: US-based Defender Harbours MLS, Cranes Dream

US-based player Dickson Igga says that his dream is to represent his country and also play in the Major League Soccer (MLS).

Igga currently plys his trade with Isthmus City FC, a club that competes in the United Premier Soccer League in the Midwest Central Conference.

It has been quite a journey for Igga whose versatility can enable him play across all the defensive positions.

“My dream is to play in the Major League Soccer and also for my country Uganda Cranes,” Igga told The-SportsNation.

“And I am confident that this will be a reality soon if I keep training and playing harder.”

Igga, born in Rutooma (Mbarara), attended Rutooma Integrated P/S, Rutooma SS, Kashongi H/S, Bishop McAllister College and Bishop Stuart University.

It’s at school where he moulded his football, and he had bursaries across his Secondary School level.

He played Beach Soccer at Bishop Stuart and also the Inter University Games.

Igga, managed by Agent Ronnie Santos, was part of the Bishop McAllister’s team that played Nationals in Arua.

Igga played for Mbarara at the Ankole Districts Cup as well.

He featured for Bushenyi United, Bwezibera United, Igongo Sports, Bwezibwera FC and Mbarara FC in the Western Regional League.

He then later moved to the United States in September last year, and while there, he had trials before signing for Isthmus City FC.

“The journey is fun and am enjoying myself,” Igga reflects on the journey so far.

His main highlight was when he helped the Team qualify for the Playoffs for the first time.
