City Oilers eased past KCCA Panthers to record another routine win in the National Basketball League.

The Oilers won 75-50 at YMCA Court in Wandegeya to remain unbeaten this season after 14 games.

KCCA remained in the contest for the best part of the first half, but their wheel later fell off in what expectedly turned out to be a one-sided affair.

The Oilers were 34-30 up at halftime, but KCCA went cold in the third quarter in which they were limited to just nine points to trail by 14 points heading into the last quarter.

And midway through the fourth quarter, with Oilers’ lead looking unassailable, the fans sang youngster Allawi Ssenkubuge’s name in request for him to be brought on, and Coach Mande Juruni duly responded.

Allawi who came on for Tonny Drilleba, didn’t disappoint, scoring 10 of the team’s 12 points down the stretch to seal an emphatic win.

Three more City Oilers players – Ivan Muhwezi (17), Fayed Bbaale (14) and Luak Ruai (12) – scored in double digits while Tonny Drilleba had 12 rebounds.

Drilleba and Titus Lual were 0-for-12 combined from the field, but it was a game where Oilers didn’t have to dig deep to collect a needed result.

Only Salim Kisilu (15) and Rin Tueny Mabor (10) scored in double figures for KCCA Panthers, in a game they got 12 points off the bench in comparison to Oilers’ 44.

City Oilers will return to action in two weeks time against Power on July 15, but it will take some beating to stop the Oilers who’s major hurdle may not come until July 28 against KIU Titans.

Elsewhere, Chris Omanye filled the stat sheet with 11 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists as Nam Blazers beat JKL Dolphins.

Kampala Rockets stunned UPDF Tomahawks to keep their survival chances alive, KIU Rangers survived Miracle Eaglets scare while Nabisunsa compounded Nkumba Ladies misery.
