The Uganda National Boxing team the Bombers have intensified their preparations for the upcoming Africa Elite Boxing Championships with a residential camp at Buloba Forest park.
The Africa Elite Boxing Championships will take place from the 25th July to the 6th of August in Yaoundé, Cameroon with the Bombers team expected to depart on 23rd July.
The team is comprised of 17 Boxers which has six ladies and 11 men under the guidance of head coach Twaibu Mayanja and it’s captained by experienced Joshua Tukamuhebwa.
Head Coach Twaibu Mayanja has expects a better performance from his squad after assessing them on day one in the camp with their fitness levels being so high after the participation in the ongoing Boxing Champions League.
“We have started preparations for the forthcoming Africa Boxing Championship in Cameroon. All the boxers are in good conditions and we have already held great training sessions. The good thing is that they have been taking part in the Boxing Champions league and so their fitness levels are superb.” Said Coach Twaibu Mayanja.
The Bombers team captain Joshua Tukamuhebwa has sighted out better preparations as a key factor which will lead them to better performances in the upcoming Championships.
“We started training on Thursday and I believe we can perform well in the championship basing on the preparations we are having with our coaches.” said Joshua Tukamuhebwa

A total of 35 countries have so far confirmed participation in the $1,000,000 competition. These are DR Congo, Tanzania, Comoros, Cameroon, Senegal, Egypt, Swaziland, Guinea, Morocco, Botswana, Congo Brazzaville, Mauritius, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, Seychelles, Zimbabwe, Algeria, Malawi, Gabon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Angola, Guinea Bissau, Togo, Mali, Zambia, Cape Verde, Burkina Faso, South Africa and Uganda.
