The BIKA Netball tournament resumed on Saturday 1st July at St. Lawrence University in Ndeeba with the round of last 16 and the quarterfinals round being played as the Butiko clam lost the petition and withdrawn out.
The Butiko clam finished as runners up in group B but lost a petition for using players who are not of their clan and were disqualified from the tournament whereby they were replaced by Nsenene one of the best third places teams at the round of 16.
The BIFONEC vice chairperson Dr. Sarah Muwonge Nkonge praised the performances put up by the players in the netball tournament as she went ahead to emphasize the teams to follow the rules and regulations that govern the tournament.
“The games are moving on well despite the small misunderstandings which are not avoidable, I would like to thank the clans which have been part of the 2023 BIKA Netball tournament and I want to urge those who didn’t participate to ensure that by next year they can make it.” Said Sarah Nkonge
“I would like to urge the teams that if you know that a player is not of your clan please don’t bother to bring that player to spoil the tournament because even the player at some point will face the rough courts of laws for impersonation so let’s try to protect our players by guiding them to play in the clans of their origins.” added the Vice Chairperson.
The defending champions of Ngeye managed to eliminate Kkobe 26-15 in the round of 16 before manoeuvring past Nkula in a slight win of 21-20 in the quarterfinals to book a place in the Semis.
