Women T20 League: Soroti Praying For City Rivals Olila Against Damani

Saturday, June 3
Aziz Damani vs Olila High
Jinja SS vs Soroti City
Tornado Bees vs Wanderers

Soroti City will hope their city rivals Olila High School do them a favour when the latter meets Aziz Damani on Saturday in the National Women’s T20 League.

Both Soroti City and Damani have accumulated the same number of points (10), but Damani lead the table standings owing to their superior net run rate.

The two sides split the wins last weekend when they met in a double header that saw Damani win the first game by 7 wickets, and Soroti the second game by 4 wickets.

As they head into Saturday games, Soroti coached by Wilfred Ogwang will hope Olila do them a good turn.

Olila will face Damani in a double header at the Lugogo Cricket Oval, and should they win one of the games, they will have aided their rivals in the title pursuit.

But Soroti will first have to deal with Jinja SS who they meet at the Jinja Cricket oval on the same day. Should they win this double header and Damani loses just one game, the side will reclaim the summit.

Jinja will not be an easy hunting ground though for captain Janet Mbabazi and her teammates. With Stephanie Nampiina, Hope Mbeiza, Mary Namiro and Whitney Nassuna in their ranks, Jinja SS do have a decent team that can cause an upset.

Habib Mugalula’s team played their first games of the season last weekend and those were in form of a double header against Wanderers at Lugogo. They lost one and won the other which put them fourth in the table standings with two points.

Olila are placed third with four points, but they could lose that position to Jinja SS should they lose both their Saturday games and Jinja win just one.

The other game will see Wanderers take on Tornado Bees at the Green Oval in Entebbe. Wanderers finally got their first win of the season last Saturday when they beat Jinja SS by 13 runs.

They will look to continue with that form when Tornado Bees who are placed bottom with zero point presents opposition. Wanderers occupy the fifth position with two points.
