National Rugby 7s: URU Unveils Calendar

Uganda Rugby Union (URU) unveiled the calendar for the upcoming National Rugby 7s tournament.

This competition will be played over a total of seven circuits, all of which will take place over a course of two months across the different regions of the country starting 1st July, with the last circuit happening on 2nd and 3rd September.

The reigning Nile Special 7s champions—Jinja Hippos, will have the honours of hosting the first circuit on their home grounds, Damwaters in Jinja and they will face the challenging task of defending their supremacy in the sevens setting.

One significant change to note is the modification of the upcountry circuits which will now also feature as two-day events. These were previously conducted as single day circuits.

Also, Rhinos RFC will have a chance to make their presence felt in the tournament after qualifying and earning core status amongst the core teams

Their entry replaces Walukuba RFC, who were relegated after finishing at the bottom of the standings in the 2022 edition.
